Sania Mirza stuns No. 4 Nadia Petrova04 August, 2005
Indian teenager Sania Mirza caused a major upset by beating No. 4 seed Nadia Petrova of Russia in the US$ 1.3 million Acura classic tennis tournament. In a one-sided match, the Indian sensation stored a straight set victory 6-2, 6-1 over her opponent.
Sania had to win two qualifying matches to secure her entry into Acura Classic 2005.
"When you play nothing is easy," Mirza said. "Even if the score is love and love, I don't think it would have been an easy match. I knew that as soon as I would have relaxed, even for one second, she would have jumped on me."
Sania Mirza who began this season ranked No. 169 in the world is sure to break into the top-50 with this victory.
