Sania Mirza looses in the first round in Bali

Sania Mirza suffered a disappointing loss in the first round of the Wismilak WTA tournamenet being held here in Bali, Indonesia. Eighth seeded Sania Mirza lost to unseeded Russian player Ekaterina Bychkova. It might be recollected that Ekaterina Bychkova had ousted defending champion Svetlana Kuznetsova in the first round of the US Open. Sania Mirza lost today's match 3-6 2-6 in just under an hour.

"Everyone has bad days and it's my bad day today. I wasn't really in it from the beginning. She played a good match but I think I was really rusty. I was just not in my rhythm. A lot of shots that went in other matches just didn't go in today", said Sania, after the match.

Sania Mirza will be playing doubles in the tournament on Wednesday.
