Japan Open: Sania through to the second round

In her very first appearance in the Japan Open, Sania Mirza scored an easy victory over Vilmarie Castellvi of Puerto Rico. The Indian took less than an hour to finish the match 6-1, 6-3. Castellvi is ranked 173.

The good news continued for Sania in doubles as well, where she paired up with Shahar Peer of Israel to beat Jill Craybass and Carly Gullickson of USA 3-6, 6-3, 6-1.

Sania Mirza will be facing Japan's Aiko Nakamura in the second round.
