Sania Mirza wins the first round at Open Gaz de France

Sania Mirza went back to her winning ways by upsetting sixth seed Flavia Pennetta in straight sets 6-2, 7-6. Pennetta is ranked 16th in the world.

In her second round, Sania would be facing French teenager Tatiana Golovin. Mirza would be hoping to avenge her Japan Open defeat against Golovin in her upcoming match.

This is Sania's first appearance in the Open Gaz de France.
