Sania Mirza through to the third round of US Open

Sania Mirza beat Italy's Maria Elena Camerin 6-4 1-6 6-4 in the second round of the US Open to secure a place in the third round of the championship being held in New York.

In the keenly contested match that saw frequent ups and downs, India's Sania Mirza held her nerve and emerged victorious.

Sania will be up against Maria Bartoli in her third round match. Should she win that match as well, she could set up a fourth round clash against world no. 1 Maria Sharapova.
