Sania Mirza out of Japan Open08 October, 2005
Sania Mirza's superb run in the USD170,000 Japan Open came to a stunning halt today when she was ousted by third seed Tatiana Golovin of France. The Indian lost in straight sets 2-6, 4-6.
Sania looked out of sorts for most of the game, but came back from being 0-5 in the second set. However, she couldn't stop the third seed from clinching the set and the match. Golovin will meet Nicole Vaidisova of the Czech Republic.
Sania's forehand found a special mention by Tatiana. "She hits her forehand cross so hard that they are difficult to hit back. I had to play my own game and somehow she started to make unforced errors but that's how tennis goes".
Sania will be seen in action in the Bangkok, Thailand in the Thailand Open that begins next week.
