Sania Mirza advances to the second round in Thailand Open

India's Sania Mirza made a winning start in the USD200,000 Thailand Open being held here in Bangkok, Thailand. In a match of swinging fortunes, Sania beat Henrieta Nagyova of Slovakia 6-1, 4-6, 6-0.

Sania Mirza took the first set comfortably by repeatedly breaking her lower ranked opponent. However the Slovak came back strongly in the second set to clinch it 6-4 and forced the match into the decider.

The third set saw Sania Mirza producing powerful strokes that left Henrieta Nagyova totally stunned. The Indian didn't give away even a single opportunity to the Slovak and clinched the decider without dropping a game.
