Venus Williams beats Sania Mirza05 January, 2006
Despite taking a early 2-0 lead, Sania Mirza failed to carry on the tempo and succumbed to former world no. 1 Venus Williams in the Watsons Water Challenge exhibition match being held in Hong Kong.
Venus who took a 11 minute injury break came back charged up and took the match in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.
Sania who has made a confident start in the new year would be hoping to improve her form and would be wanting to put on a good show in the Australian Open scheduled to be held later this month. Sania would be India's hope for the tournament.
